Urolithiasis, which is the formation of calculi or stones in the urinary tract, is a
well-documented occurrence in the general population Primarily formed in the
kidney or ureter, urinary calculi can also form or migrate into the lower urinary
system The etiology of this disorder is mutifactorial and is strongly related to
dietary lifestyle habits or practices Proper management of calculi that occur
along the urinary tract includes investigation into causative factors in an effort to
prevent recurrences
This issue of Probe discusses the role of polyherbal formulations effective in
the management of urolithiasis The “Clinical Insight” section presents a meta-
analytical study of clinical trials evaluating the efficacy and safety of Cystone in
the management of urolithiasis
This issue also throws light on Septilin, a polyherbal formulation that is effective
in the management of upper respiratory tract infections Also featured are
clinical trial reports on 2 new products launched in the market, Lukol syrup
and Diarex syrup, which have been proved to be effective in the management of
