Pharmacological Actions of Principal Ingredients 1. Antibacterial action: Extracts of Azadirachta indica, Curcuma longa, and Aloe barbadensis have shown antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes. 2. Anti-inflammatory action: Curcuma longa has shown in vitro anti-inflammatory activity by suppressing the activity of P. acnes-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) and pro-inflammatory cytokines. This results in reduction of inflammation and healing of acne lesions without scarring. 3. Keratolytic and comedolytic actions: Salix tetrasperma exhibits keratolytic activity that helps in controlling the excessive follicular hyperproliferation and hyperkeratinization involved in acne.
