The following are some of Himalaya’s initiatives to conserve biodiversity and safeguard the environment: • Conserving Biodiversity: Conducting annual tree-planting drives • Wealth Out of Waste: Collecting, recycling, processing, and responsibly disposing the plastic waste generated after consumer use • Renewable Energy Sources: Consuming energy through sustainable resources by leveraging solar and renewable power. Himalaya has a plant at Jagalur (Davanagere, Karnataka) for capitalizing on captive hybrid power generation. Care for Earth As a socially conscious organization, Himalaya believes it is important to invest in the communities in which it operates. Care for Community • Project Lakshmi: Financial empowerment of women in rural India by creating employment opportunities • Kisaan Mitra (Farmer’s Friend): Economic empowerment of marginalized farmers by encouraging them to grow medicinal plants • SURAKSHA (SURveillance system to trAcK suicide and Self-HArm): In collaboration with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) and the Government of Karnataka’s various departments, a community-based suicide prevention model to track suicide and self-harm
