Gandhaka. ...................................................................... 5 mg Clinical Pharmacology Vegecort Cream is an Ayurvedic proprietary formulation with herbal actives that have anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, wound-healing, antimicrobial, keratolytic, and skin-protectant properties. Vegecort Cream exerts potent anti-inflammatory activity involving multiple targets, thereby reducing the skin inflammation associated with different types of eczema. Vegecort Cream helps upregulate the expression of the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) gene. The GR is an important component in the process by which glucocorticoids exert an anti-inflammatory effect. Glucocorticoids facilitate the downregulation of the expression of target genes that encode several proinflammatory proteins, especially cyclooxygenase (COX), phospholipase A2, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) among others. The herbal ingredients of Vegecort Cream are also observed to strongly inhibit the inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandin E2 and interleukin (IL)-6 and the enzyme phospholipase A2 (a key enzyme involved in the release of inflammatory prostaglandins). The antimicrobial property of the ingredients of Vegecort Cream help fight pathogenic bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus, that are responsible for secondary infections of eczematous lesions.
