Anti-inflammatory and analgesic actions: Vitex negundo, Cinnamomum camphora, Eclipta alba, and Calendula officinalis possess anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. These herbs downregulate the proinflammatory cascades, inhibit lipid peroxidation, and thereby, relieve inflammation and help soothe the irritated mucosa. The local analgesic action helps numb pain by desensitizing sensory receptors. 2. Antimicrobial action: Eclipta alba, Mimosa pudica, Vitex negundo, Melia azadirachta, Allium ascalonium, and Acorus calamus have potent broad-spectrum antimicrobial action, and prevent secondary microbial infections and promote wound healing. 3. Wound-healing action: Mimosa pudica, Calendula officinalis, Blumea balsamifera, Tankana, and Yashad Bhasma improve cellular proliferation and enhance tissue repair by promoting the formation of collagen fiber, and thus, promote wound healing. 4. Hemostatic action: Mimosa pudica and Calendula officinalis are known to have hemostatic action, and hence, help check bleeding and accelerate wound healing. 5. Antioxidant action: Vitex negundo, Calendula officinalis, Solanum nigrum, and Ailanthus excelsa possess free radical–scavenging activity and help renormalize the activities of the primary antioxidants by reducing lipid peroxidation, and thus, promote wound healing.
