Drug Interactions No clinically significant drug interactions have been reported. Presentation Sealed pack of 60 tablets. Pharmacological Actions of Principal Ingredients 1. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic actions: The anti-inflammatory and analgesic actions of the constituents of Pilex tablet are mediated via prostaglandin synthesis–inhibitory and cell membrane–stabilizing activities and inhibition of proinflammatory mediators such as tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) and interleukins to relieve inflammation. The ingredients of Pilex tablet exhibit antinociceptive action, and thereby, help relieve pain. Commiphora wightii, Berberis aristata, Bauhinia variegata, Mesua ferrea, and Blumea lacera have potent antiinflammatory and analgesic actions. 2. Antimicrobial action: Azadirachta indica, Berberis aristata, Acorus calamus, and Amorphophallus campanulatus have potent broadspectrum antimicrobial action and prevent secondary microbial infections. 3. Wound-healing action: Berberis aristata, Terminalia chebula, and Mimosa pudica accelerate wound healing by promoting epithelial regeneration and preventing infection through their antimicrobial property. 4. Hemostatic action: Mimosa pudica and Mesua ferrea are known to have styptic action, and hence, accelerate healing. 5. Laxative action: Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellirica, Cassia fistula, and Emblica officinalis are well-known for their laxative action. They prevent constipation, and thereby, help reduce the dilatation of veins in the hemorrhoidal plexus. 6. Antioxidant action: Shilajeet and Caesalpinia bonducella are known to have free radical–scavenging activity. They help renormalize the activities of primary antioxidants by reducing lipid peroxidation and promote healing.
