Clinical Pharmacology Mentat enhances memory and learning capacity, prevents cognitive deficits, and exhibits neuroprotective, anxiolytic and antidepressant actions. Mentat has cholinesterase-inhibiting, dopaminergic-neuroprotective, adaptogenic, and antioxidant actions. Mentat improves neurological functions by modulating cholinergic and GABAergic neurotransmission. Mentat improves the mental quotient, memory span, concentration ability, and stress threshold by restoring the frontal cortical muscarinic and cholinergic receptor activities. Mentat helps to reduce the level of tribulin, an endogenous monoamine oxidase inhibitor that is elevated in various levels of anxiety. Mentat also ameliorates attention fluctuations and behavioral disorders. Mentat exhibits significant dopaminergic-neuroprotective action by enhancing the dopamine post-synaptic receptor activity. The calming effects of Mentat are beneficial in insomnia and convulsions. Mentat improves articulation and corrects speech defects.
