Malabaricones B and C from Myristica fragrans have antibacterial activity. Zingiber officinale (an ingredient of Trikatu), Ocimum sanctum, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Embelia ribes, Cinnamomum cassia, Malva sylvestris, Hyssopus officinalis, Zizyphus sativa, and Ptychotis ajowan have potent antimicrobial activity against commonly encountered respiratory pathogens. Glycyrrhiza glabra has specific antiviral property against influenza type A infection. 6. Anti-inflammatory action: Procyanidins from Vitis vinifera restrain inflammatory response of activated neutrophils in the respiratory tract. Hence, Vitis vinifera is useful in cough, hoarseness of voice, and throat problems. Also, Zizyphus sativa, Commiphora wightii, Ocimum sanctum, Myristica fragrans, Glycyrrhiza glabra, and Cinnamomum cassia have anti-inflammatory property, which helps in controlling respiratory tract inflammation. 7.
