Adverse Effects No adverse effects have been reported. Contraindications None. Special Precautions • If there is no relief from cough after 3 days, thorough investigations are advised. • In pregnancy, use under medical supervision. Drug Interactions No clinically significant drug interactions have been reported. Presentation Pilfer-proof bottle of 100 mL. Pharmacological Actions of Principal Ingredients 1. Antitussive action: Adhatoda vasica has antitussive action comparable to that of codeine. Glycyrrhiza glabra is used for treating common cold and cough. Its expectorant and antitussive activities help relieve cough. Honey, a well-known nourishing agent, is a remedy for treating cough and other respiratory problems. Solanum xanthocarpum relieves cough and facilitates expectoration. Embelia ribes is useful in chronic cough and hoarseness of voice. 2. Mucolytic action: Adhatoda vasica is widely used as a mucolytic that also dilutes sputum, and relieves productive and nonproductive cough. Viola odorata and Navasagara have potent mucolytic action. Ocimum sanctum and Solanum xanthocarpum ease the expectoration of sputum. 3. Anti-allergic action: Alkaloids from Adhatoda vasica protect against allergen-induced bronchial obstruction. Ocimum sanctum has significant anti-allergic action. Glycyrrhiza glabra is a potent inhibitor of 11-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase, which is beneficial in steroid-dependent asthma.
