Hemostatic and gum-strengthening actions: The astringent property of Pterocarpus marsupium helps to arrest bleeding and strengthen gums. 2. Antibacterial and wound-healing actions: Pterocarpus marsupium is proven to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria and promote wound-healing. Myristica fragrans has strong antibacterial activity against oral pathogens. Triphala inhibits the growth of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Triphala contains polyphenols, which have inhibitory activity against PMN-induced matrix metalloproteinases involved in adult periodontitis. 3. Anti-inflammatory action: Triphala and Pterocarpus marsupium have anti-inflammatory activity and help maintain gingival health.
