33 Evecare • Vol 11 • No. 2 • Sep–Dec 2023 Ghagra/Chaniya Choli Ghagra or Chaniya Choli, as it is popularly called, is an ethnic women’s dress in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Earlier, the Chaniya Choli was worn daily, but now it is mostly worn at Garba dance during the Navratri festival in Gujarat. It is heavily embellished with mirror work, colorful patterns, and appealing ethnic designs. The dress also comprises a chunri (a lengthy scarf), where one end is tucked at the waist, and the other is taken over the opposite shoulder and then used to cover the head. Ghagra Phento Kediyu: A typical Gujarati kurta that resembles a frock and is a popular attire Chorno/Kafni Pajama: A cotton pant that looks like a dhoti (a length of cloth wrapped around the lower half of the body) and is tied loosely at the ankles. It is mostly worn with the Kediyu.
